The tour starts very leisurely with a beautiful mountain panorama, mostly on asphalt and with moderate climbs.
Biking permitted: 1h after sunrise to 1h before sunrise.
The following localities and waypoints serve as a guide:
Starting point – Planet Planai – Evangelische Kirche – Talbachklamm – Landalm – Kreuzung Obertal – Gmeiner - Hopfriesen – Eschachalm – Schönauer – Windbacher – Rohrmooser Frei – Rohrmooserstraße – Tauernalm – Abzweigung Preuneggtal – Strickbrücke – Bankwirt – Pichl – Café Hermann – Ennsradweg R7 – Maistatt – Schladming - back to the starting point
From Salzburg: Follow the A10 to Altenmarkt. There join the B320 and continue in the direction of Liezen. At the exit Schladming, turn right at the gas station Jet and follow Coburgstraße to the Parking Area at the Planet Planai on the left.
From Graz: Follow the A9 until you reach Liezen. There join the B320 and continue in the direction of Schladming. At the exit Schladming, turn left at the gas station Jet and follow Coburgstraße to the Parking Area at the Planet Planai on the left.
Take the train from Radstadt or St. Michael to Schladming. From there 10 min walk or 3 min by bike to the starting point.,
Sufficient parking available at the Parking AreaPlanet Planai.
- Always wear a helmet and appropriate clothing.
- Ride only on paved and signposted paths.
- Watch out for traffic at crossroads and road junctions! Be considerate and give way.
- Avoid blocking the rear wheel and thus help to maintain the paths.
- Control your speed downhill!
- Protect the environment and do not leave garbage, etc. in the mountains!

Bicycle helmet, cycling clothes, sturdy shoes, rain protection, sun protection and enough to drink.
Breakdowns can happen - but rarely in front of one of the numerous service points: a basic equipment of tools and accessories therefore never hurts! Spare tube and/or patch kit, universal wrench, air pump, brake and shift cable, and a screwdriver can be helpful.
Tip for families: The first part of the tour is also well doable with children, after the Obertal simply start the descent via the Talbachweg back to Schladming.
